Stairstep Falls

Description

Stairstep Falls is not really a waterfall, but a series of one- to two-foot “steps” in the bed of the Middle Fork North Fork Trask River where it makes a wide meandering loop. There are maybe about 12 steps in all, an interesting feature resulting from eroded alternate layers of sedimentary and volcanic rock and breccia that were once part of an ancient ocean floor.
