Driving Directions
From the last traffic light in Sandy (just past the ARCO station), drive east on Highway 26 for another 20.4 miles.
After passing Rhododendron and then the Tollgate Campground, turn left on Road 27. Head in on paved, narrow Road 27 for 0.6 miles before making a sharp switchback up to the left onto Road 207.
The road becomes gravel here. The road is not as bad as it once was, having been repaired, at least in this initial section, to facilitate recent 2021 logging operations. Once you reach the far end of the clearcut around the three mile mark, the recently-maintained section ends and the road becomes rough. High clearance is required beyond this point.
3.8 miles from Highway 26 you'll reach a very large mud puddle that may be filled with water until late summer. Just beyond this is an obvious viewpoint at a switchback where you can stop and see the tall waterfall at the head of Devils Canyon. After this switchback the last 1.5 miles is rough and rocky with some large potholes that require slow and careful driving.
The road ends at a small trailhead parking area.
