Elk Meadows-Lamberson Spur Trail Junction

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Leafy glade on the Lamberson Spur Trail above the junction (bobcat)

Description

This is where the Lamberson Spur Trail #644 leaves the Elk Meadows Trail #645 and starts upward, first through pleasant forest glades with some blowdown, and then upward through small meadows with glimpses of the upper slopes of Mount Hood.

The new trail sign at this junction gives some hope that some kind of regular maintenance of the Lamberson Spur Trail will be forthcoming. The sign states that the trail ends in three miles, but it is only the first two miles, up to a cleared area on the nose of a ridge, that are easily followed. After that, there's a trail trace through the Gnarl Ridge Burn of 2008 that is easily lost.
