Description
The Cooper Spur Shelter is halfway up Cooper Spur, just above the junction of the Tilly Jane Trail with the Timberline Trail. You get great views up the mountain, and of area to the east. The shelter is a stone shelter with metal roof that drips when it rains; it has an open door and a fireplace with chimney. It's big enough for a couple of people. It would be a good shelter in a storm.
There are a number of nearby spots for tents. The closest drinking water is 0.5 miles below in the Tilly Jane canyon.
From the junction of Tilly Jane Trail and Timberline Trail, take the Tilly Jane Trail directly up. There is a sign that says "Cooper Spur".
