Driving Directions
Drive I-5 north to Exit 36B for Highway 432W and Longview.
Drive 3.8 miles after exiting on Talley Way, keeping left for the Industrial and Port Area and merging with Tennant Way.
At the junction with Oregon Way, keep straight on Nichols Boulevard, driving 0.8 miles past Sacagawea Lake Park.
Keep straight for Long Beach and, after 0.7 miles, bear left on NW Nichols Boulevard.
In 0.3 miles, reach a T-junction and turn left onto the Ocean Beach Highway for Highway 4 and Long Beach.
It’s 26.5 miles from here to the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge for the Columbian White-tailed Deer, where you turn left onto Steamboat Slough Road.
Drive 0.25 miles and turn right into the parking area at the refuge headquarters, where there are restrooms and interpretive signs.
Fees and Regulations
- Dogs are not permitted anywhere in the refuge.
- Center Road open June - September (exact dates vary)
- Steamboat Slough Road open all year (no longer a through road for vehicles)
- Refuge headquarters open Monday - Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
