Wildwood-Hardesty Trail Junction

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

The south junction of the Wildwood Trail with the Hardesty Trail (bobcat)
The north junction of the Wildwood Trail with the Hardesty Trail (bobcat)

Description

The Hardesty Trail reaches the Wildwood Trail here. There are two junctions, with a short stretch of the Wildwood between them. Going down the Hardesty Trail towards Leif Erikson Drive, you will pass the well-known "Big Stump", a large western red-cedar that was cut around the turn of the 20th century.

The Hardesty Trail was built in the 1940s. William B. Hardesty was an early president of the Mazamas and a major advocate for the preservation of natural environments. A plaque at Split Rock, in Mount Hood's Paradise Park, also honors him.
