Vulcan Lake

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Port Orford cedars at Vulcan Lake, Kalmiopsis Wilderness (bobcat)

Description

Vulcan Lake sparkles in its little cirque below Vulcan Peak. While the 2002 Biscuit Fire ravaged much of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness, this area saw more of a scrub fire and larger Port Orford cedars were left standing.

It's a short hike into the lake, and the inviting waters command a cooling dip; there are also a couple of established camp spots near the shore.
