Sheep Canyon Crossing

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

The Loowit Trail crossing Sheep Canyon (bobcat)

Description

Sheep Canyon realigns itself every year and there is more than one gully to cross. The Loowit Trail may be indistinct here early in the season. Heading north, the trail rises into a forest of snags seared by Mount Saint Helens' 1980 blast. The slopes of the canyon are resplendent with the red leaves of Newberry's fleece flower and huckleberry in the fall. Gentians, harebells, and paintbrush bloom late into the summer here.
