Driving Directions

Drive west on Highway 26. From the junction of 26 with Highway 217, it’s 15.1 miles before you make a left turn for Highway 6, Banks, and Tillamook.

Drive 51.9 miles into Tillamook. At the first traffic light, turn right onto Highway 101N for Bay City and Astoria.

Go 2.5 miles, and right turn onto Alderbrook Loop Road for the Kilchis River, Kilchis Park and the Idaville District.

After 1.1 miles, go right for Kilchis Park.

In 1.3 miles, turn right and cross a bridge over the Kilchis River. The road becomes gravel.

In 2.1 miles, keep left at a junction near some dwellings.

After another 0.6 miles, turn right at the junction with Sam Downs Road.

Continue 2.3 miles on Sam Downs Road until you get a to a junction right after a bridge. Here Sam Downs Road makes a sharp bend right; you should keep straight (left). Pull into one of the campsites on your left if you don't want to drive a narrow, rutted, potholed track the remaining 0.6 miles to the Little South Fork Kilchis River Trailhead.
