Description
Once a natural wetland that was drained, this spot was for many decades a virtually impenetrable blackberry thicket that also served as a trash dump and homeless camp. Beginning in 2003, an intensive community effort cleared the invasive plants and restored ponds and wetland plants. Boardwalks were constructed, centering on the gnarly multi-limbed Sitka spruce in the middle of the property. Trails lead in from various directions, including through a small forest of spruce on the ocean side of the wetland.
