Description
Tanner Lake sits nestled in a cirque less than a mile from the California border. This is the very western end of the Red Buttes Wilderness. Old growth specimens of Brewer's spruce, incense cedar, and Douglas-fir can be found in the vicinity.
There is a campsite at the lake. It is named after Ezra Tanner, who arrived in Oregon in 1852, staked a land claim at Waldo, and mined along Tanner Creek.
