From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Smith Lake in the summer (bobcat)

Description

Smith Lake is the larger and deeper of the two lakes within the Smith and Bybee Lakes Wetlands Natural Area. The area is on the site of the former St. John's Landfill. Smith Lake's water levels, unlike Bybee Lake's, are kept fairly constant throughout the year via a water control structure, thus accommodating canoeists and kayakers.
