The trail leaves the grassy road bed here and enters shady forest (bobcat)

Description

Most of Forest Road 2618 was decommissioned in 2010, adding about 2.6 miles round trip to the Salmon Butte Hike. This point marks the former trailhead. Here you leave the road bed and continue up the Salmon River Trail #791 to the top of Salmon Butte.
