On the Herman Creek Trail, with the Nick Eaton Trail leading up to the left (bobcat)
Concrete sign a little farther up the Nick Eaton Trail (bobcat)

Description

These trails form a pretty strong contrast. The Herman Creek Trail gradually gains elevation, but it does it by slabbing along the east side of the canyon, picking up elevation as it goes. There's nothing gradual in the makeup of the Nick Eaton Trail. This beastie likes switchbacks and likes them common. Expect to go left, then right, then left, but mostly up, gaining 2,000 feet in two miles.
