Driving Directions
Drive I-84 east and take Exit 44 for Cascade Locks and Stevenson. Drive 0.4 miles from the freeway and make a right for the Bridge of the Gods and Stevenson.
From this turn, wind around to the toll booth for the Bridge of the Gods ($2), cross the Columbia River and come to the intersection with Highway 14, a total of 1.7 miles.
Turn right onto Highway 14E for Stevenson and Kennewick. Drive 5.9 miles through Stevenson, and make a left at a roundabout for Carson and the Wind River Recreation Area.
Drive 5.8 miles on the Wind River Road, and make a right onto Old State Road.
After 0.1 miles make a left onto Panther Creek Road, which becomes FR 65.
Drive 11.0 miles, some of it narrow and winding, to the Four Corners crossroads.
At Four Corners, go right on FR 60 for Crest Camp, Goose Lake, and Trout Lake.
After 7.1 miles on this gravel road, and 0.5 miles after passing the Goose Lake Campground, keep straight on FR 60 at a four-way junction.
In another 1.5 miles, turn left onto FR 6030 for East Crater and Forlorn Lakes.
Drive 0.2 miles and turn left onto FR 6035 for East Crater and Forlorn Lakes.
In 1.9 miles, come to the junction with FR 6040 and keep straight on 6035 for the East Crater Trail #48.
Drive 2.2 miles and pull off to the right into a large gravel parking area at the East Crater Trailhead.
