My husband and I made our first trip to Fall Creek Falls on Sunday. We knew it was going to be pretty good right from the start, because the creek was swollen and rushing.
We hadn't really been tracking our mileage, so we were surprised that we had gotten to the falls so fast.
But we'd heard that we could get to the top of the falls, so we kept on going. We were a little puzzled about why we were hearing the rushing water in front of us when we'd left the falls behind. Then, we turned a corner and looked through the trees - oh, i see ... THAT Falls
We happened to hit the falls with a bunch of photographers who had been there before. None of them had seen it as active as it was that day. It was a perfect storm of big snowfall, cold spring, and a few hot days
(Part of a series of photos of my husband that I call Bob-dwarfed-by-nature :))
We hit a bunch of the Oregon waterfalls on the way home, thinking that they'd be at the same peak, but although they were bigger then they had been earlier in the season, none of that had the same uncontrolled power that we'd seen on the Washington side. Not sure if it's just the runoff from Adams or something else. Anyway, this is a great time to visit. |
