Elk Meadows, Mt. Hood, July 4th, 2007

Posted by markesc (2007-07-29)
Started out around mid-day at the Clark Creek turnoff from Hwy 35....the first mile in was completely washed out, however it's not too bad to follow the blazes until you reach the first bridge.  I recommend starting at the Mt. Hood meadows area instead.  Here are a few from Elk Meadows (taken with polarizer and split ND filter, with Canon 5D on Tripod ofcourse!).

Oh, how beautiful! A sunny day with Mt. Hood visible makes a lot of difference!

I have no idea why Sullivan and the Forest Service start this hike at the Clark Cr. Snowpark--it's actually shorter doing it from Hood River Meadows (and no Forest Pass required, either). It wouldn't matter if the extra mile were in the more spectacular part of the hike, but instead it's in the dullest!

Which proves that the Field Guide does it better!
