Twin Pillers Trail - Mill Creek Wilderness - Ochoco N.F.

Posted by NW_Eric (2007-05-06)

Hiked the Twin Pillers trail from Wildcat campground in the Mill Creek Wilderness last weekend.

A lot more fire blowdown then I remember two years ago when I hiked it last. An enjoyable spring hike.

Got any more photos?  A group of us had talked about Ochoco as a possible backpack destination last October and ended up hitting Indian Heaven instead, just because we didn't know anyone with first-hand info on what routes to take (although the Sullivan book had a nice write up on a few options)

I'd be interested to hear more specifics about your trip

Is most of this area burned out?  I imagine the spring flower displays could be nice though with all the direct sunlight.

I only took a couple of photos when I stopped for lunch. I was busy hiking. ;-)

Most of the area around the trail is burned out. Makes for a full body workout going over and around downed trees. If you don't want to get your feet wet you can cross the creek at the campground and stay on the right following some deer paths. The main trail crosses the creek a couple of times.

A few flowers out but nothing  spectacular. Maybe too early?
