Description
Carty Lake is in the south part of the Carty Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildife Refuge. The lake borders on Port of Ridgefield property. A seasonal trail (May through September) runs down the west shore of the lake, but wintering waterfowl may be observed from the Port of Ridgefield entrance during the closure months.
The lake is named after James Carty, an early settler who built a log cabin near where the Cathlapotle Plankhouse now stands in 1839.
