Elowah Falls

Post by mattymeis » May 10th, 2017, 8:04 am

I wanted to hike to Elowah Falls tomorrow, I'm flying in from the Midwest. I heard there was a huge trail washout in March, is there any access to the falls currently?

Thanks!

I haven't hiked the trail for years, but each time I passed by it this spring on my drive back to Portland (7 times), the trailhead has been swamped in cars of the hikers who are hiking it. It does not appear to be a problem given its popularity. Your bigger issue seems to be finding parking.

I don't think parking will be an issue on a chilly rainy Thursday.

Both Friends of The Gorge and John B. Yeon State Park websites have it listed as closed: http://oregonstateparks.org/index.cfm?d ... parkId=114

I have volunteered some of my time to TKO to help rebuild a new section of this trail, a landslide took out a nice chunk. The goal is to have it open by Memorial Day, but hopefully it should be sooner!
