Haven’t done anything sadomasochistic for awhile and was getting the urge. Drove out to Dog Mountain Saturday 1-13 getting to an almost empty parking lot(only one other car) before sunrise and proceeded to do 3 laps for a total of 19 miles and 8500ft of climbing. The trails were in almost perfect condition, no mud really at all. The sun was out all day and for the first time ever for me on Dog Mt there was no wind. I am very satisfied now. Bonus was getting to see the sunrise from near the summit and wearing only shorts and a tee shirt cause the weather was unreal.

Triple Dog on a perfect day.
Re: Triple Dog on a perfect day.
Awesome!! Congratulations on a huge accomplishment.
Re: Triple Dog on a perfect day.
I drove by there as it was just barely getting light and noticed, what, I think about 4 cars. Wondered who would be getting such an early start.
Yeah, the weather was amazing. I was glad I decided to just toss a bunch of clothing in the car. Would have regretted it if I started out wearing fleece pants because it was all I packed. Had a jacket in my pack, but never put it on once, even at a long rest stop. One of the really nice things about a warm winter day is the ground actually dries out in the afternoon, and you can sit in moss/grass without getting soppy wet.
So when the days get a little longer, will you be back to do 4 laps?

Nice job! My own sadomasochistic endeavors maxed out at 2 dogs so I applaud your stamina. I must say though, I like Chip Down's comment:

Aaburles, you overlooked something important in your report, and I forgot to ask earlier: Any snow? Based on my recent observations at similar elevation, I'm going to predict you saw a stray patch or two, but not enough to build a decent snowman.
Re: Triple Dog on a perfect day.
Thanks guys. As far as doing 4 laps time wasn't the issue, I got done by noon. My legs were the issue, they were shot. I would like to go for 4 laps this year and if I do I'm going to slow my pace down a bit.
The only snow on the trail that I saw was a 2sq ft patch of snow on the side of the Augspurger trail towards the top.

A very grand accomplishment indeed.
Perhaps your next goal could be the Bud Young challenge: Defiance, Dog & Table in the same day.

Wow! I think I'd be crippled after the 2nd attempt!
Nice work!
