Hummocks, nada
Headed back down Boundary Trail above Hummocks. Snow was deep in parts. About 12" nominal once up here.
SR 504 near Loowit VP. Road still buried, but this could melt out really rapidly.
Near JRO Parking lot
At the info sign headed up the walkway
At the visitors center
Looking back to parking lot
The mountain in white
Bottom Line: Used snowshoes for the final 2 miles up to JRO. You could get up on the first ridge w/o them, but it gets tougher as you climb. Postholing to your knees final mile.

Nice!!
I suspect there is a good chance that we passed by each other yesterday. I wandered around the hummocks in the morning and started climbing the boundary trail around 1pm or so. I was the only one climbing Johnston ridge at that time. What a great day!!

I remember thinking, "hmm it's a little late to start up there...wonder how far he's gonna go?" Sometimes when I pass ppl I suspect they are forum members...especially solo hikers.

Haha, that's funny. I had no agenda or destination for the day. The name of the game for me was wandering. I wandered around the ridge white a bit. Climbed to around 3500 or so. Fun day.
