Circa 2009. Staking the tabs (which are only on the ridgeline of mine) helps a little, but doesn't stop the crossbar from twisting downward when the tent is hit with a crosswind. The windward side folds downward and eventually the main pole collapses. I suspect using the trekking poles would help. Here's a video (not mine) that shows the mechanics of what happens.drm wrote:As to the Rainbow tent, I wonder what version you have. My friend's Rainbow did quite well in wind. It has a number of tabs along the lower edge that can be staked down tight. The Stratospire is pretty good in wind as such lightweight tents go.
Don't get me wrong--I love my Rainbow--it's just that every tent has its pros and cons. In wind (or a calm rain), I prefer my Notch.
