Siouxon Creek

Post by Ray Finkle » April 16th, 2015, 3:10 pm

First time post, long time lurker.
Enjoyed a hike around the Siouxon Creek area. Searching directions, road directions and asking in the forum were all spot on. thanks Eric and sprengers4jc for the directions and advice.
The mileage from point to point was very accurate on this forum and NWHiker.org. The road is rough with broken pavement along the way on FR 5701 and the sign was down for FR5701. Someone had spray painted on the pavement 5701 so that made it easy. Even without the spray paint you can find your way following directions from both websites.
Cloudy and foggy on the way in and a little rain about mid morning Sunday it started clearing up and we had blue sky heading out. Trail conditions were ok a little muddy from the recent rain. but overall in very good condition. Still have to climb over a big cedar tree at the Wildcat trail cutoff.
Justpeachy nailed the description of lush and green on her report last year. Reminded me of Olympic State Park with all the lush green in this area.

Nice pics, Ray! Glad it was a great day for you. Just out of curiosity, did you see any other people out there or did you have the place to yourselves?

We had the trail to ourselves till we started heading back and met about 10 people. A few of them were backpackers staying overnight but majority was day hikers. Driving out was a breeze too met no cars on that narrow fr 5701 road.
