Decided to make a trip up to Larch mountain today. Started at Multnomah Falls and followed the Larch Mtn trail (441) the 6.8 miles up to Sherrard Point. No wind at the point (el 4056) and the sun was feeling nice. After 30 minutes, a snack, and a few pictures of the local volcanoes I headed over to catch the Oneonta trail (424) to connect with the Franklin Ridge trail (427) in order to make as much of a loop of it as I could. All the trails were in good shape. I met one guy at the Sherrard Poing but otherwise I had the trails to myself until I got 3 miles out from Multnomah Falls and then it didn’t take long until I started running into the crowds. Overall a great day on the trail. Around 4000 ft of elevation gain and guessing it was close to 16 miles.

Classic loop, Bruce. Bizarre to be hiking it this time of year -- sort of a guilty pleasure, really... seems like we shouldn't be enjoying a winter drought this much..!
