Ice Cave Ski Day

Post by Jill » January 9th, 2009, 8:51 pm

Last weekend (1-3-09) we headed up to ski to the ice caves nearby Trout Lake and what a blast we had. It is true that when you arrive at the snopark (Atkisson) there are snowmobiles revving up everywhere but once we got off the groomed trail (maybe 100 feet) we only saw one other group the entire day. Although the flat 4 mile trail is ungroomed, there is a distinct side for shoes or skis. It was an awesome time!

Negotiating a tree bent across the trail is no easy task with skis.

Love the "icy conditions" sign. What a perfect motto for the winter of '08 -'09! Looks gorgeous in those photos, like walkin' inside a snow globe. It would be hilarious to return to that same location in, say, July, and take identical photos for a "before" and "after" montage.

That looks like a really fun trip! Gorgeous fluffy snow (contrasted to the wetter/slushier snow we mostly saw in Vancouver)!
