Paradise park to palmer?
A buddy and I are hiking up to Paradise park from Timberline this saturday and I was wondering if anyone has looped up across Mississippi head to the top of Palmer? If so how difficult would it be?

Welcome Bill - Take a look here.
Some people are really fit at eighty; thankfully I still have many years to get into shape…

Define "difficult."Billri9685 wrote:A buddy and I are hiking up to Paradise park from Timberline this saturday and I was wondering if anyone has looped up across Mississippi head to the top of Palmer? If so how difficult would it be?
It's not bad. I did it a couple weeks ago. (Report here.) There's some sections with somewhat steep snowfields, and there are also some fairly steep and extremely unconsolidated volcanic debris slopes. The kind where you're potentially causing the hillside above to slide down towards you. I think the key is to not slack up and fail to pay attention from the time you cross the saddle above the Sandy drainage viewpoint until you're coming down the ski run. (I sorta felt I'd "made it!" about when the ski lifts came into view, and immediately stumbled a couple times on the loose rocks. That woke me back up.)
Have fun!

I think stuff in that Off-Trail group gets lost, but given the discussion(s) going on the week or so before I went up there...
