I've never understood the selfie fad. But hey, I should give it a fair chance. Back in January, I took the selfie below, partly because I decided I finally wanted an avatar here (as you can see, the chip pic won out). Nope, now that I've taken a selfie, I still don't see the appeal.
If this heat is getting to you, here's a reminder it won't last forever.
And now that you know what I look like, be sure to say "Hi Chip!" if you see me on the trails.

Well...when we see a black-garbed disembodied nose emerge from the woods, we'll know it's you!

I've had people recognize me on the trail, and vice versa
Re: trying out this "selfie" thing
I'm guessing from the proposed avatar photo that Chip doesn't want to be recognized on the trail, he's just tired of the chip avatar. Then again, Chip doesn't hike on trails, so he couldn't be recognized on one anyway.

You have a striking similar appearance to the person breaking into cars at trailheads.

That pink sea-creature picture is not a selfie. It's a portrait.
It's kinda scary you own an outfit like that.

A selfie is always possible with a wifi/Bluetooth enabled camera.BigBear wrote:That pink sea-creature picture is not a selfie. It's a portrait.

And no, it's not my outfit. Too "artistic" for an ex-scientist. I forget where that image came from, likely someplace cold and artistic.

Thanks, that's probably going to give me nightmares.VanMarmot wrote:Chip relaxing post-hike...
