it is a fun mystery, especially since there is other evidence found.
Maybe its an alien signal for something... kidding. I think its natural like Jerry eluded to above... shadows rocks.
I think it would be fun to see the number next summer.... maybe it will be 48 lol

Now you can see better in TJTs that it's just random shadows
Re: Mt Hood mystery #47...
Hate to be the slow one. . . but could someone write the numbers in on top of whatever it is they're seeing? I still don't get it. Is it like those 3D puzzles from a few years ago?
Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.

You don't see it? Good, then you won't waste so much time on an idle exercise
Actually, you're wasting more time not seeing it so
Open the first picture. There's the summit. To the right, on Yocum ridge there's a rock outcrop close to the edge of the picture. Half way in between there's sort of an outcrop. Then go down the same distance as from this outcrop to the summit.

Here's a shot from McNeil Point showing the same area. Looks like a 77 from there.

Koda, I'm curious about the means by which the shadows were generated. About when in the afternoon was the original photo shot, and which part of which month? A September day at about 5 PM? Was Photoshop or any other post-processing done?
Some cameras do things to shots when generating jpeg files that change the images when magnified sufficiently. For example, the later models of the Panasonic ZS3 firmware and later models of the ZS series automatically sharpen images in a way the original ZS3 firmware did not. So, what camera took the shot? What format was it saved in?

Hi Raven, the photo I took was taken with a Canon Powershot A300, Sept 2, 2007 saved in jpg and no photoshop or other editing.
here is a link to another persons random photo taken probably in the same spot as mine but in 2010... http://waterrocktree.blogspot.com/2010/ ... point.html
