Wish I would have seen the trip report. A lesson learned to check first. Headed up to Wygant Peak yesterday and made it past the power lines and switchbacks hoping that eventually the trail would get better. Snow ? Mt St. Helens

Hi,
Has anyone been up to Mt. St. Helens recently? Last weeks update stated 2-4' snow at timberline. I'm going next week with teenage son/his girlfriend and am wondering about the conditions and changes to consider since the last time I went in August it was dry and beautiful. Any suggestions?

It appears you went the other way. Question: When doing the ridge, do you take the first trail (the one by the paved path) or the one later on by the power lines? I assume the first one is the shorter route. I was up there on Sunday and I always take the first trail off the paved path. According to...

Thanks for the input. I guess it is the hikes that have the scrambling that I will have to look out for her. I have to mention there was only one dog on a leash the 3 hours we were at Dog Mountain today.

I understand that some trails may not be dog friendly but are there any suggestions of hikes that are absolutely not for a dog.
