Mount Hood with Zigzag Mountain in the foreground (Jerry Adams)

Description

Zigzag Mountain is south of and overlooks Cast Lake. You get great views all around, and there is a flat area where you could camp. The closest water is to the east on the Zigzag Mountain Trail before it reaches the Cast Lake Trail. This isn't as busy as East Zigzag Mountain, Burnt Lake, or some of the other places in the area.

To get to the summit, when the Zigzag Mountain Trail goes onto the north side of the peak, find a convenient off-trail route to get up to the summit proper. It's about 0.2 miles and 200 feet of elevation gain.
