The official Yocum Ridge Trail ends at mile 8.6, but you can continue another mile up a trail just as good as the official trail. There's a knowl with a spot you could sleep, but just barely. About 0.2 miles further is a nice campsite. You shouldn't find too many people here.

Description

The official Yocum Ridge Trail ends at mile 8.7, but you can continue another mile up a trail just as good as the official trail. There's a knoll with a spot you could sleep, but just barely. About 0.2 miles further is a nice campsite. You shouldn't find too many people here.

You get great views to the north, including the viewpoint on the trail going up to McNeil Ridge. You can see down to a wide bench below the present terminus of the Sandy Glacier. There are also expansive views from Mount Rainier to the Three Sisters and Broken Top.
