The road winds up for 5.5 miles to the parking area below the lodge (When exiting drive downhill on the one-way section of the road from the southwest corner of the parking area).
- Timberline Lodge is a venerable Depression-era masterpiece on the south slope of Mount Hood. There is a maze of trails surrounding Timberline Lodge, all connecting to the Timberline Trail (no. 600), which is also the Pacific Crest Trail (no. 2000) along this portion.
- A sno-park permit is required to park in winter.
