Description
Sundown Gap is a saddle between the two middle prominences on the Tanner Mountain-Grizzly Peak ridge. You can use an overgrown logging road from here to begin an off-trail connection to reach the Tanner Lakes Trail and thus complete a loop in the western portion of the Red Buttes Wilderness. The route continues down through a steep open linear meadow, followed by a short steep descent through conifer woods to the Tanner Lake Trail near Tanner Lake.
