Description
Rock Creek Butte is the highest peak in the Elkhorn Range and also the highest point in Oregon's Blue Mountains. As per Summit Post, it is the 26th highest summit in Oregon. The rock is composed of early Cretaceous diorites (sometimes incorrectly called "granites") of about 140 million years ago.
The actual summit is about 1,000 feet and half a mile above the Elkhorn Crest Trail and is an easy, though steep, cross-country hike from there.
