From Portland or Vancouver, drive I-5 north to the Ridgefield exit, #16, recently resigned for Pioneer Street. Turn left and head west on Pioneer about 2 1/2 miles to downtown Ridgefield. Turn right on Main Avenue (yes, it's Main ''Avenue'') and head north about 0.7 miles to the signed refuge parking lot on the left. Note the times posted at the gate.

Driving Directions

Drive I-5 north to Exit 14 for Highway 501W, Ridgefield, and Pioneer Street.

Turn left at the intersection after exiting, and drive 3.1 miles on Pioneer Street, passing through three roundabouts and eventually driving into downtown Ridgefield.

At the intersection with S. Main Street, turn right and drive 1.0 miles to make a left turn into the large gravel parking area for the Carty Unit of the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge.
