Hikes starting here

Driving Directions

Drive I-5 south to Exit 243 for Ankeny Hill. Go right on Ankeny Hill Road at the Stop sign.

After 0.2 miles, keep straight (left) at a Stop sign to join Wintel Road.

Continue on Wintel Road for 2.6 miles.

After entering the Ankeny National Wildlife Refuge, pass the turnoff for the Rail Trail Boardwalk and Observation Blind, and then look for the parking area for Pintail and Egret Marshes on your right.

Other Notes

  • No pets allowed
  • Boardwalks open all year; other trails closed October 1st to March 31st
  • Brochures available at the Rail Trailhead
  • Bring binoculars!
