Description

The Pelican Bay Light, on a bluff above Brookings Harbor near the mouth of the Chetco River, is one of Oregon's two privately operated lighthouses, the other being the Cleft of the Rock Lighthouse near Cape Perpetua. The lighthouse is one of the newest in the country and was commissioned by the Coast Guard in 1999.

The lighthouse, and the house to which it is attached, is owned by Bill and Jo Ann Cady. The lamp is an acrylic Fresnel lens. It is the southernmost light in Oregon and is visible from 12 miles off the coast. The lighthouse is not open to the public but can easily be viewed from the harbor below.
