Description

This is a fairly confusing set of trail junctions. The Timberline Trail has made a long diversion west to circle around Bald Mountain. This is the spot where it meets the Pacific Crest Trail. From here you can take the Crest Trail north toward Lolo Pass or south to the Sandy River. The Timberline Trail leads northeast around the north side of Mount Hood or south to Paradise Park.

Just north of here on the Crest Trail is the junction with the Top Spur Trail #784A. This half mile trail leads down the ridge to the Top Spur Trailhead. Old maps show a Bald Mountain Shelter near here.

Just south of here on the Timberline Trail is the junction with the unmaintained Bald Mountain Trail.
