Driving Directions

From downtown Portland:

Take I-5 south to Exit 297 for Terwilliger Boulevard.

Turn right after exiting onto Barbur Boulevard, and drive 120 yards to a traffic light.

Turn right here onto Terwilliger Boulevard, cross back over I-5, and drive 1.3 miles to a traffic light.

Make a right here onto Boones Ferry Road, and go 0.7 miles to pull in on the left at the North Creek Trailhead for the Tryon Creek State Natural Area.

Alternatives to Driving

Tri-met Bus #38 runs along Boones Ferry Road. There are stops north and south of the trailhead.

  • Open 7:00 a.m. to dusk
  • Brochures available at various trailheads, bridges, and junctions.
