Hikes starting here

Driving Directions

The lower trailhead for this hike was closed when the land it crossed changed hands and the Forest Service lost its easement. Their suggested alternative trailhead for the Mule Mountain and Mule Creek hikes is now the Charlie Buck / Baldy Peak Trailhead.

From I-5, take Exit 30 at Medford, then west on Hwy 230 through Jacksonville to the small community of Ruch. Turn left (south) here on to Upper Applegate Road for 9.2 miles, then turn left (east) on to Forest Road 20 (Beaver Creek Road). Follow Forest Road 20 for approximately 1.5 miles to the junction with Forest Road 940 and turn right. Follow Forest Road 940 for approximately 3 miles to the trailhead.

This trailhead may be closed by snow between November and April.
