Description

This is part of the Historic Columbia River Highway Trail. Most the old highway in this area was buried by the "water level" highway, now known as I-84, but miraculously the Moffett Creek Bridge was just north of the new highway alignment. Completed in 1915, the bridge is 205 feet long and was the longest three-hinged arch bridge in the United States when completed. A newer, wider bridge was completed in 1950 and this historic bridge languished in the blackberries until 2000 when a new bike path was built connecting this bridge with Tanner Creek, 1.6 miles to the east.
