Driving Directions
NOTE: A new trailhead has been constructed just west of the Ski Bowl area. The current trailhead has been decommissioned, and the new trailhead was open in November 2018.
This is the busiest trailhead on Mount Hood, providing easy access to lovely Mirror Lake. But you can avoid the crowds by simply hiking on weekdays, or consider a late afternoon hike on weekend, when crowds thin and alpenglow colors the mountain. Be sure to carry a flashlight or headlamp if you intend to stay past dark, however. The trailhead has portable toilets in summer.
The trailhead is located on the south shoulder of Highway 26, two miles west of Government Camp. In the rare instance that there are no other cars parked there, look for a log footbridge spanning Camp Creek, just east of milepost 51.
