Description
Memaloose Lake is a five-acre lake with a maximum depth of six feet. It has a small population of brook trout. The lake and the surrounding area were made part of the Clackamas Wilderness in 2009. The lake's name comes from a Chinook jargon word meaning 'death.' Remote and dark mountain lakes were often associated with death by indigenous peoples.
Several designated campsites are located on the east side of the lake. Expect it to be crowded on summer weekends.
Look in the campground area east of Memaloose Creek for the start of the South Fork Mountain Hike
