Looking down the South Fork Toutle River from the junction (bobcat)

Description

On the edge of the 1980 blast zone, this junction is among scattered lodgepole pines. The always sketchy South Fork Toutle Crossing lies ahead if you are heading north along the Loowit Trail. The new crossing lies west of the junction, so first you need to walk down the south bank of the canyon before attempting a traverse.
