Description
The twin humps of the Lone Pine Hills form a gentle protrusion above Rowena Dell. To their south, the old Rowena Dell Landing Strip can be distinguished in the pasture. At the western base of the hills is a boggy expanse of balsamroot, grass widows, saxifrage, few-flowered blue-eyed Mary, and shooting stars. There's a great view to Rowena Dell, the Major Creek drainage, and Lyle, Washington from the summit, and the lone ponderosa pine has now spawned a cluster of offspring.
This is an off-trail destination and private land is nearby. Come here armed with the proper maps and a healthy respect for rattlesnakes!
