  • Avoid high places like ridges
  • Stay away from tall trees
  • Avoid large level areas like lakes or prairies
  • Avoid metal objects like tent poles
  • Being in a valley under low trees is good
  • If you feel static electricity get on your knees and put your hands on your knees or crouch on the balls of your feet
