Driving Directions

Drive Highway 126 east of Eugene out to McKenzie Bridge. Immediately after crossing the river in McKenzie Bridge, turn right onto Horse Creek Road, which will turn into Road 2638. Drive for a total of 8.6 miles on good gravel road, then turn right onto Road 356. Drive for 4.9 miles, then make a sharp right turn onto Road 1993. (Make note of this intersection for the return trip as the unsigned turn can be easy to miss.) Road 1993 starts out as gravel, then becomes pavement with alternative patches of gravel. Follow 1993 for 7.3 winding miles with spectacular views until you reach the small trailhead parking area.

Other Notes

The former driving route - approaching on Road 1993 from the north - is no longer doable due to a landslide three miles from the junction of Horse Creek Road and Road 1993.
