Description
Fuji Mountain is a central Cascades shield volcano, similar to Mount Ray, just to the east. There are three trailheads for day hiking to the summit of Fuji Mountain. From the summit, you can see down to Waldo Lake and then Broken Top, Mount Bachelor and the Three Sisters. Then the snow-capped peaks stretch onwards: Mount Washington, Three Fingered Jack, Mount Jefferson, and Mount Hood. To the south, views extend past Diamond Peak to Mount Thiessen.
The first lookout here was put up in 1929; a replacement was constructed in 1959 but was consumed by fire 9 years later.
