View to Fivemile Point from Whiskey Run Beach (bobcat)

Description

Fivemile Point is a low promontory of tilted rock that divides Merchants Beach to the north from Whiskey Run Beach to the south. A scattering of rock reefs and stacks offshore are also part of Fivemile Point's strata and offer haven to rock fish, seals, and sea birds. They are part of the Oregon Islands National Wildlife Refuge. Just to the north of the point is a honeycombed rock needle jutting from the beach. Fivemile Point cannot be safely negotiated at high tide.
